How it works
Clear thinking grows from real responsibility. Showing up for your community is where it starts, and a paid apprenticeship is where it leads.
Tell us your age, where you live, and what you’re interested in. If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian signs off too.
Get matched
We find a volunteer opportunity near you: food banks, parks, libraries, senior centers, community events.
Volunteer 10 hours
Show up, do the work, and record your hours. Your volunteer supervisor confirms them.
Start a paid apprenticeship
We connect you with a local employer. The Dixit Can Fix It endowment fund pays for the training you need.

We work with employers who will teach a real skill and pay you while you learn it.

For organizations
Host young volunteers, or take on an apprentice who has already shown they’ll turn up and work.
Volunteer hosts give young people a supervised first shift and confirm their hours.
Employers offer a paid apprenticeship. We cover required training costs, such as certifications or safety courses.
Donors grow the endowment fund that pays for training.

Questions
Does it cost anything?
No. Signing up, volunteering and getting matched are free. Required training for your apprenticeship is paid for by the Dixit Can Fix It endowment fund.
Who can join?
Young people aged 14 to 24 who live in or near Mayfield, Cleveland’s eastern suburbs, or Ohio’s 13th Congressional District around Akron and Summit County. We plan to grow across Northeast Ohio.
Why 10 hours of volunteering first?
Volunteering shows that you show up, follow through and work well with others. That’s what employers look for first, and it gives us something real to tell them about you.
Is the apprenticeship guaranteed?
We work hard to find every young person who finishes 10 hours a paid opportunity that fits their age and interests. How fast that happens depends on the employers in your area. Work hours and job types for under-18s follow Ohio and federal child labor rules.
I’m under 18. What does my parent or guardian need to do?
Fill in their name and email on the sign-up form and tick the permission box. We copy them on every opportunity we send you.
